Help!

I'm offically out of dinner ideas. Would you comment and leave me yours? I don't need recipies, just ideas. I'm esp. looking for heart healthy ideas (so mac & cheese is out *sob*, but anything with veggies is in!) I need about 7 of them so I can meal plan and go shopping!

HUGS! and Thanks!

A favorite of ours is stirfry. I boil the chicken so there's no added fat and then toss in a bag of frozen veggies. We add a little soy sauce and then eat it with steamed rice. Pretty healthy.

Another one I like is a pasta type stirfry. Cook pasta (whole wheat or multi-grain) and then toss in whatever veggies you like (zucchini is tasty). Then I add a little Italian seasoning. Done!

Hey there. Some things on our menu this week are beef stew (lots of veggies and potatoes), enchiladas, chicken pot pie (we use the heart healthy bisquick stuff for a topping on top of lots of frozen veggies and some chicken mixed with a *healthier* cream of chicken soup). Some other favorites of ours are herb rubbed pork chops and roasted potatoes, chili, tacos, and lots of different soups (easy to stick in lots of veggies there). Good luck! Hope that helps.

You know me and my salad obssession. Lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, onions, green beans, radishes, broccoli, bean sprouts, mushrooms, spinach, avacados, cheese crumbles, you name it. Pair it with a low-fat olive oil vinaigrette and you're golden. Making myself hungry...

Anyway, other ideas. We like stir-fry, too, and Kikoman has a fantastic sauce that I use. I like to blend rice to make it 1/4 to 1/2 brown, too. We also have a great lentil soup recipe--all the iron & most the protein of meat with none of the fat. Raw almonds make a great snack & boost protein levels so you're not as hungry. Spaghetti's an old stand-by, but a home-made sauce with tons of veggies and adding some whole-wheat pasta to the pot really helps. We like burritos, too, but I'm not sure how to make the beans low-fat. I suppose you could use olive oil instead of shortening, but I don't know how it would taste. Making your own pizza might work, too, depending on your toppings.

I hope that helps!

Some of our standby meals: Broiled Chicken (with some lemon pepper sprinkled on), Chicken and dumplings (lots of broccoli in that), Fajitas, Orange Teriyaki Beef Stir Fry. Some menus from this week: Baked Potatoes, Pork Chops with Apples, Chili.

Oven BBQ pork chops or chicken. Baste the pork chops or chicken in your favorite bbq sauce roll in crushed croutons or corn flakes and cook 25 minutes.

My other favorites are
red beans and rice
Bean and Rice burritos
Chicken Dijon (WW recipe)
Sweet and Sour Chicken (another WW recipe I love)
Apple good pork chops

Looks like everyone has already mentioned the ideas I was thinking of--like sweet and sour chicken and red beans and rice. Another good one is homemade vegetable soup--you can add just about any kind of vegetables you like. Baked chicken, baked fish, broiled pork chops are all good low-fat meats. Chicken salad or tuna wraps (with a low-fat tortilla) are some more options. I too do a lot of stir fry type stuff with a little rice or pasta thrown in with vegetables and either chicken or a little lean beef.

In a pinch i take Chicken tenders and smoother them in BBQ sauce or "BBQ" sauce thats flavored like honey mustard. Bake 350 for 20 min and eat with any kind of rice (white, wild, jumblia) in my rice cooker.

I just had a wonderful meal of veggies and pasta. Fry up some bell peppers, zucchini (whatever you want, and use olive oil) and put it over pasta, then put italian salad dressing over the veggies. Tasted awesome.

Soup is always good and easy. You can put anything in a soup.

Dinner Ideas? Just get some hashbrowns (or potatoes, whatever) and some sausage (dinner kind) and cook them on the stove. good eating w/ katchup or 57 sauce.

I have a really healthy Mac and Cheese and it tastes great. You make the sauce out of butternutsquash and add a little Ricotta, Monterey Jack and Cheddar and some seasonings. It's really yummy I can send you the actual recipe if you are interested. I also have a good veggie chili recipe. Mini Meatball soup is also really good.
