27 Years, 16 Weeks

Yesterday was my wonderful hubby, Doug's, birthday! He only turned 27, so he's not an old man yet. I'm secretly pleased, because I was 27 when we had Sariah, and now Doug is 27 when we have this baby. I think it was meant to be... either that or I like odd patterns & coincidences.

Doug had a stressful day at work, so we didn't get to celebrate until the evening. We took him to Red Robin for dinner, where he enjoyed his Prime Rib dip & Chocolate Shake. (I'm still having beef aversions, but I managed to enjoy an A1 Peppercorn burger with a garden burger patty substitute.) Doug was a little embarrassed when he got sung to by 4 of the servers, one who announced to the whole place that he had just turned 21. (I told him he should feel flattered, and he said he would've except his office mate thought he was over 30 earlier in the day.) Sariah was fascinated by the clapping & the singing. She bobbed her head along with them and stared in awe. We all enjoyed the free ice cream.

After dinner we came home for cake and ice cream. Doug had requested a yellow cake with raspberry icing, but I couldn't find raspberry icing. Instead he enjoyed this yellow cake will raspberry filling, lemon icing & raspberry garnish with chocolate ice cream. This is the only picture I got of the entire day and I took it after Sariah and I finished decorating the cake.Notice how Sariah has pen marks all over her legs and arm. She found one of my pens downstairs during quiet time, thankfully she only wrote on herself. She didn't want to color Doug's birthday banner, but her legs? Sure!

Doug recieved Sliders season 4, Pushing Daisies season 2 & a pc version of Final Fantasy VII that he's been longing for forever. Its out of print, but I managed to find a (working) copy for a reasonable amount of money. He is thrilled! Happy Birthday to a wonderful father & husband!

In other news, I'm 16 weeks pregnant! This means I'm full into the 2nd trimester, but I'm still enduring some first trimester goodness (and by goodness, I mean morning sickness, boo!) I actually started feeling fluttery baby movement at night about 2 weeks ago, which has been really cool. I don't have anything really exciting to report at the moment, but I thought I'd finally post a belly picture, for those who are interested. I haven't really wanted to do this yet this time around, since I carry most of my weight in the belly anyways, and I always feel I look pregnant, but I figured by now, I'm pretty obviously pregnant. So there you go...

We're about a month away from our 20 week ultrasound, which I figure I'll be able to schedule after my appt. tomorrow, so I'll go ahead and post a "what gender do you think we're having?" poll... :)

Sounds like Doug had a fun birthday! Yay for 27! And the cake looks awfully good. Also, congrats on 16 weeks. I guess we really are just about 10 weeks apart. That makes it easy to remember. I hope you can schedule your sonogram for sooner than Sept. We're all excited to find out!

That cake looks great! Glad Doug had a good birthday; it's too bad it was a stressful day at work, though.

I had some morning sickness with Henry until around 18 weeks. :P I hope yours stops soon!

Happy Birthday to Doug again! And hope your next 16 weeks go very smoothly, along with all the following weeks. We all look forward to finding out if it's a boy or girl.

You're so adorable, Marin!!! I love your belly :) And wow, that cake sounds intense and yummy! I love lemon on cakes...but I've never tried making lemon icing! I'll have to give it a whirl someday!

So if you were 27/16 with Sariah, and Doug's 27/16 with this one, does that mean this one's a boy? It'd be some nice symetry.

I was wondering where all the belly pictures were
