Doug stayed home with a sleeping Sariah last night so I could go see Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix at the IMAX theatre that's 10 min. from our house. (Side note: I have never paid $12 to see a movie before! Maybe it was good that I went by myself! We'll probably pay less for the dvd!) It was good to get out by myself without Sariah, so I'm thankful to Doug for being so wonderful!
Overall I enjoyed the movie. Daniel Radcliff was amazing. Even Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have improved on their acting. Ron sure smiles a lot more in this movie than I've seen in previous, and it wasn't a goofy smile, but actually a very attractive one. I'm a big Ron/Hermoine shipper, so I enjoyed the tension between them. I've always thought that the movies at least get the characters right, even if the plots are a little holey.
Speaking of plot, it was really wierd for me. I'm not sure how to explain it, but they seemed to go really quick through the plot, yet I felt the movie dragged. I'm not sure how that happened. There were scenes that were awesome. The dementor attact was gripping until Mrs. Figg ruined it. I loved the DA meetings. And I felt they did a good job showing you the inside of Harry's mind.
The 3D stuff was pretty brilliant too. I'm glad I saw it this way and I'll echo Lisa's SIL, Regan, that if you can see it this way, you should! Although I was a teensy disapointed about the big fight at the end, it seemed to go really quickly, and I guess I expected more, esp. once the Order got there.
All in all, I'm glad I saw this on the big screen. I think it deserves 4.5 stars out of 5. :)

i agree they really rushed through the whole story. i was so surprised as it ended. i expected a lot more. the movie is still good. i am glad i have seen it.
We were a bit disappointed by the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort, but that was mostly because it was too flashy. Too many sparks and lightening, not enough stuff flying around to absorb hits. I soooo wish they had left in the bit with Dumbledore summoning Fawkes to take an Avada Kadavra for him, but I guess that takes too much explanation. Plus, Dumbledore looked like he was really pushing it, struggling to fight off Voldemort's attack, and that's just not right. Ah, well. I liked that the whole movie went fast, though. There's a lot of stuff to get through, and it worked (for me) to have themes grouped together so you can cover them all at the same time.
I can't believe you've never paid 12 bucks for a movie! Our IMAX is 15 and the regular movies are $12. I think the matinee is a steal...it's only 10.50 or so. That's what I get for living in California I guess! Oh yeah, haven't seen the movie, but read the last book and loved it.
